BeanThere is a log of every coffee you drink. If something is not behaving, this page covers what usually turns out to be the cause.
The shop is wrong, or there is no shop
The app looks for cafés near you and proposes the nearest one. It is a proposal, not a verdict — tap the shop in the sentence to pick a different one, search by name, or type a name that Google has never heard of.
Nothing nearby? Only places Google files as coffee shops or cafés are offered, so somewhere filed under groceries or restaurants will never appear however close it is. Tap "Look further" to widen the search once, or change the default radius in Settings.
Somewhere that is not a shop at all? Pin it. A cup made in your own kitchen is a real cup; pin the place once and the app recognises it every morning after.

That build has no Google Places key in it. Shop names can still be typed and everything else works, but nothing will be found by location. If you built the app yourself, see the Configuration section of the project README.
The bag reading missed things, or invented them
Photograph the bag straight on, filling the frame, with the printed side lit. Roasters set the interesting details in small type on the back, so if the roast date or the altitude is missing, use the "Shoot the back too?" prompt after the first photo.
Every value the app fills in stays marked as a guess until you touch it. If something is wrong, tap it and correct it — the correction is what tells the app you have checked it.
If a bag reads badly and you built the app yourself, its OCR text makes a good regression fixture; HeuristicBeanParserTests is where those live.
The captions are plainer than I expected
Caption and review drafting use Apple's on-device models, which need an Apple Intelligence-capable device. Without one, the app falls back to assembling text from a template. Everything still works — the prose is just plainer.
Publishing does not post anything
That is deliberate, and it is a platform limit rather than a missing feature. Neither Instagram nor Google Maps offers a way for an app to post on a personal account's behalf. BeanThere stages everything — photos to your camera roll, caption to your clipboard — and opens the other app. You tap Post.
"BeanThere needs permission to add photos" means the photo library permission was declined. Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos › BeanThere, and choose Add Photos Only or Full Access.
Where is my data, and can I get it out?
On your phone, in the app's own container, and in your device backup if you back your device up. Nothing is uploaded anywhere. Deleting the app deletes the log with it — there is no copy elsewhere and no way to recover it, so if a log matters to you, keep your device backed up.
Sharing an individual entry with the share sheet is the way to get one cup out today. A full export is not in this release.
Something else
Tell me what you were doing and what happened, and if you can, tap the version number at the bottom of Settings five times — that reveals a diagnostics section with a log you can export and attach. It records what the app read and decided; it holds no personal data beyond what you put into the entry itself, and you can read it before sending it.
