Privacy Policy

Mycelia ("we", "our", or "the app") is a mushroom-foraging companion app. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is handled.

Information We Collect

• Account information — When you sign in with Apple, Google, or email, we receive your email address (and display name if provided). This is used solely to identify your account.
• Foraging finds — Photos you take or choose from your library, the species identification result, notes you add, and the GPS coordinates of the find location. This data is stored in your account; see "Community Sharing" below for what can be visible to other users.
• Location — GPS coordinates are recorded when you log a find and when you use the map. Location is accessed only while the app is in use and only when you explicitly log a find or open the map.
• Camera and photo library — The camera and photo library are accessed only when you initiate a mushroom identification. Photos are processed to generate a species identification; they are stored as part of your find record if you choose to save it.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and sync your foraging history across your devices.
• To generate species identification results for photos you submit.
• To show your finds on your personal map.
• To send optional local notifications (e.g., return-season reminders). These are generated on-device and do not involve our servers.

Data Storage and Sync

Account data and find records are stored using Supabase, a cloud database provider. Data is stored on servers in the United States. Supabase's privacy policy is available at supabase.com/privacy.

Community Sharing

Signed-in users can share finds with the Mycelia community. Finds you do not mark as private appear as pins on the community map, visible to other signed-in users and attributed to your chosen nickname. Shared pins include the species, photos (including any extra gallery photos, such as gills or habitat shots), location, date and time, and weather/habitat details of the find. Your personal notes and quantity are never shared. The total number of shared community finds (a count only, no find details) is visible to anyone using the app, including people who are not signed in. You can keep all new finds private with the "Keep new finds private" setting, mark any individual find as private, or forage as a guest — guest finds never leave your device.

Data Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

Data Retention and Deletion

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. You can permanently delete your account and all associated cloud data at any time from within the app: open Settings → Profile and tap Delete account. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. You may also contact us at the email below with any deletion questions.

Children's Privacy

Mycelia is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Safety Disclaimer

Mycelia provides species identification suggestions for informational purposes only. Never eat a wild mushroom based solely on this app's identification. Always consult an expert before consuming any foraged food.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
