Thanks for playing! Whist is a single-player card game where you bid, predict your tricks, and try to hit your number exactly against three computer opponents. It runs fully offline, shows no ads, needs no account, and collects no data.
How to play
- Trump bidding. Bid a minimum number of tricks and a trump suit, or pass. Each bid must beat the last (more tricks, or the same tricks with a higher-ranked trump: ♣ < ♦ < ♥ < ♠ < No Trump). The highest bidder sets the trump.
- Takes. Starting with the trump winner, every player predicts how many tricks they'll win. The four predictions can never total exactly 13, so at least one player will miss.
- Play. Follow suit if you can. If you can't, you may trump or play any card. Match your prediction exactly to score big; each trick over or under costs you. Sometimes it's smart to lose a trick on purpose.

How good are the bots? Do they cheat?
They don't cheat — each bot sees only its own hand plus public information, the same as you. Before every card, each bot deals out dozens of ways the hidden cards could lie and plays whatever scores best across them. They duck tricks they don't need and punish overbids.
Why can't the four bids total 13?
That's the "over/under" rule: the last player to predict is constrained so the four predictions never sum to exactly 13. It guarantees at least one player misses. A total over 13 is an "Over hand", under 13 an "Under hand", and a prediction of zero scores ±50 in an Under hand and ±25 in an Over hand.
What are a "gamlet" and a "round"?
A gamlet is one full deal (13 tricks). A round is one trick. A game runs up to 10 gamlets or until someone reaches 200 points. If all four players miss their predictions, the gamlet is cancelled and nobody scores. Your running scorecard is saved automatically between sessions.

Privacy
Whist does not collect, transmit, or share any personal data. It has no analytics, no tracking, and no advertising. All game state — your name, scores, and history — is stored locally on your device and never leaves it. The app makes no network requests beyond loading itself.
